Traveling as a woman is not always easy because believe it or not. There have been many cases where women were Solo harassed or violated during their trip regardless of their origin or what they wear. It shouldn’t happen in the first place because the responsibility to keep women safe is not on them. However, it is always important to take precautions if you are a solo traveling woman. Hence, you feel safer, more secure, and comfortable through the entire trip.

It is important that you keep your things close to you and in your sight. The chance of becoming a victim of pickpocketing is bigger than getting kidnapped while traveling. Hence, being vigilant about your stuff will help reduce the chance. Always have copies of important travel documents and save them in safe locations. Keep valuable things at home and don’t flash any expensive things in public.

Where you sleep is very essential to keep you safe. There are many types of accommodations that any traveler can choose such as hostels, hotels, homestays, dorms, etc. And as a solo traveling woman, it is highly recommended an accommodation that is meant for women guests only. There have been many cases of how female travelers being harassed during their sleep when they stay at a mix-dorm during their trip. 

Stay sober

You might feel like loosen up for a bit and let your guard down when travel alone. However, it could be the gate of a disaster because you don’t know what will happen when you are intoxicated alone in unfamiliar place surrounded by unfamiliar people. Hence, it is always a safe choice to stay sober. You can have fun in many other ways during your trip without involving alcohol or drugs. Also, be wary with your foods or drinks when you are in public settings. Make sure they are in your sight so you know if there is someone who is trying to put something in them. 

Make a plan thoroughly

it is beneficial to have your trip planed to the T so you don’t have to think long when arrive at your destinations. You just have to follow your plan because you have handled everything from the beginning including booking this and that. Make sure you know how and where to navigate yourself so you don’t look like a losing kitten in unfamiliar place.

Make sure you know when to show your friendliness and not because sometimes people take advantage of ‘friendly-looking tourist’. Don’t hesitate to stand up for yourself even if you are called ‘rude’ by others. There might be situations that put you in discomfort such as people invading your privacy or grabbing you disrespectfully. Be rude to those people and tell them off.
